Jonathan D. Sokoloff
is a graduate of The University of Pennsylvania (Magna Cum Laude 1974) and The University of Pennsylvania Law School (1978). Mr. Sokoloff received the degree of Master of Laws in Taxation from the New York University School of Law in 1980 and then joined Diamond, Polsky & Bauer, where he concentrates in estate planning, estate administration and tax planning. He practices in both the firm’s Media office and Philadelphia office.
Mr. Sokoloff is a former President of the Delaware County Estate Planning Council and is a member of the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council. He is the former Chairman of the Delaware County Bar Association Orphans’ Court Education Committee. He is also the past Secretary/Treasurer of the Tax Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and is a member of theProbate Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Mr. Sokoloff has worked extensively with partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, nonprofit entities and recapitalizations and other planning devices in the context of minimizing estate and gift taxes, and in representing both individuals and businesses in IRS audits, negotiations and litigation. Mr. Sokoloff has co-authored a Bureau of National Affairs Tax Management portfolio on IRS tax liens.
He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Florida Bars and is admitted to practice and has tried cases before the United States Tax Court and the Claims Court. He is a member of the Philadelphia and American Bar Associations and the Tax Sections of the Philadelphia and American Bar Associations. |
